. . . in this time when all karma is being settled, and there is an exponential increase in all the extremities of situations, environments, and in the conflicts that arise within the field of the egos.
We don’t want to be involved in such conflicts. We don’t want the ego to be in its own internal fragmentation to create chaos. We don’t want incoherence in this time, when clarity, lucidity, willpower, strength, endurance, and wisdom—not to mention divine love—are essential to our passage through this historic moment into a new era.
And the health of the body itself depends on the state of consciousness; but regardless of the bodily state, one’s consciousness should not be affected or disturbed by any events that occur to it, or around it. But for this to happen, the mind must have already been settled in the Atman—the ego dissolved, and all of its reactivities and projections eliminated.
It is this sadhana that now must be accelerated if we are to be able to ride the wave that is approaching and not be inundated by, and overwhelmed by, the energies that we will all soon face. And thus the seriousness of our sadhana must increase exponentially to be able to remain ahead of the flow of maya that would overtake us otherwise.
And thus it is essential to focus not simply on the improvement or advancement of our consciousness from the lower chakras to the middle chakras, but we need to reach that point of complete egoless presence, that is the state of Jivanmukti: liberation from the illusion of body-consciousness, and the suffering that is attendant to the body and attachment to other bodies, and its attachments and narratives to melodramas, and superficial signifiers that it has come to organize its life around, which no longer make sense in any rational frame of reference. And these projects of the ego, to bring about the illusion of happiness, or the illusion of power, or the illusion of popularity, the illusion of security, the illusion of romantic love, the illusion of the capacity to be unaffected by events while still within the ego—all of these illusions of omnipotence, and defenses against the insecurities and internal chaos of the ego, can only be completely eliminated through the elimination of the ego itself.
Not of any amelioration, or of any lesser form of shifting one’s relationship to the most primitive traumas—but that identification with the body, which produced those traumas, and caused them to lodge in the lowest strata of egoic consciousness as an enduring interference patterns and cause of the return of the repressed, and the repetition of traumas in new forms, and new additions, and new permutations—that patterning of egoic life that produces a world in which there is a continuing oscillation of balance and imbalance, and an inability to remain stable and transcendent of the illusory field of lack. It is this overcoming of the illusion of being in the world and of it, that must be attained and completely established so there is no danger of falling back into maya when the times get sufficiently tough that only the liberated among us will be able to prevail, over the sorrow, the anxiety, the despair, that will overtake the ego-mind.
And if we do not accomplish that we can be no help to others, and we cannot provide that refuge that is the mission of this community; and that that refuge is a refuge from the illusion of the individual person—not simply a making of that illusion more palatable, or more spiritualized in an imaginary sense. And this requires a razor-sharp discernment between the manifest and the Unmanifest, and the ability to remain in and as the Unmanifest Presence that dreams the dream, but is not affected or victimized by the dream, and is never identified as a character in the dream.
This is what yoga means. Anything less is an imaginary approach to spirituality that will be of no avail in the times of tribulation that are approaching. Only authentic liberation that is complete and irrevocable will be of any value.
But the ego’s tenacity in defending its denial and its wishful thinking, and its refusal to see the trajectory of the destiny of our planet, keeps it from making those efforts that are essential in these final moments in which there is a margin for preparation. And it requires great sobriety and solemnity of purpose, and an earnestness that never gives up, in order to break through the illusion and the barriers of defense of the ego that will attempt to keep one trapped within the frame of reference of the individual being, rather than the cosmic consciousness.
