A Life-Changing Journey into the Self

The Shakti Saturation Month is a 4-Week transformational intensive specially designed to serve our growing global community of online members. Learn More About Becoming A Member.

This onsite program is open to committed members of our online sangha who are in full alignment with the Sat Yoga Dharma and teachings, and who wish to immerse themselves in the ashram energy field and go deeper into the silence of the Self.

This month-long inner journey consists of three integrated elements: the Kaivalya Cocoon, an initial period of sacred solitude and silence punctuated by virtual classes and healing encounters; then, an advanced seminar/retreat guided by Shunyamurti; topped with the joy of full immersion in ashram community life.

This compact course offers a curriculum of classes and events that will enable you to safely and quickly release the habitual patterns of thought and emotion that obscure your Real Self.

This 4-Week Ashram Intensive includes:

  • Ten-day Kaivalya Cocoon in tranquil solitude
  • Advanced seminar/retreat led by Shunyamurti (3, 5 or 7 days)
  • Accommodations in our charming cabins
  • Three nutritious and delicious, ovo-lacto vegetarian or vegan meals per day, with many ingredients from our organic gardens
  • Morning and evening meditations with the Sangha
  • Small group classes exploring our core curriculum of timeless wisdom
  • Weekly study groups focusing on Shunyamurti’s new book, facilitated by Radha Ma

The 3 Elements of Transformation:
Silence, Realization, and Joy

The Kaivalya Cocoon

Discover the power of silence and the healing balm of solitude

Kaivalya means solitude that enables the mind to attain the powerful silence of the Self. This ten-day retreat-within-a-retreat is a precious opportunity for you to decompress from the stress of daily life, reflect, and be absorbed in inner peace.

During this sacred quarantine period, you will stay in one of our comfortable private rooms with a private bath. We will deliver delicious and healthy meals to you three times each day. In addition, you are welcome to take walks and have the chance to participate in meditative outdoor seva, if you wish. Social distance guidelines will be in place during this time.

Profound input of spiritual knowledge will spice the isolation, with virtual classes via Zoom, inspirational reading, formal meditation periods, and online asana and pranayama classes. In addition, during this time you may wish to engage in some online individual sessions of Atmanology or advanced meditation classes with adept guides, to remove any obstacles to abiding in natural samadhi.

The Joy of Pure Life

Live for a month as a true sannyasi—a renunciate of ego—and you will never go back to an impure heart

Our spiritual community fulfils the traditional Costa Rican greeting of “Pura Vida!” by offering an immersion in our pure lifestyle of natural joy. Our yogis understand what you are going through in your inner journey, and they will give you as much insight from their own experience, and as much authentic friendship and non-judgmental listening, as you wish. And they will give you as much space as you may want to abide in inwardness.

You will discover what it is like to live in community and participate in all our activities, including three daily meditation sittings, evening classes, book groups, occasional movie nights, cultural events, and all-round service to the sangha. You will also receive special retreatant classes. Our hope is that you will be fully reinvigorated and clear about the next steps on your path.

Kaivalya:

Kaivalya means solitude and isolation. The English word celibacy derives directly from kaivalya. Its yogic meaning is the separation of the Real Self from the ego and the ego’s illusions. Once the Self has been isolated from Maya or Prakriti (the world of duality), consciousness enters true solitude in which its previously hidden real nature is recognized. Once the consciousness has been entirely absorbed into the realm of the Real, then solitude ends. It ends with blissful re-union of Shiva with Shakti. Shakti had been ignorant of Her nature as well, and had become the embodiment of the Illusion, fragmentation, and ignorance as Samsara (the phenomenal plane). Once Shakti becomes awakened by Shiva, the two realize they are One.

Darshan:

In Sanskrit, the word Darshan means either a philosophical doctrine or a sacred encounter with a spiritual teacher in order to receive blessings and energetic attunement to God-consciousness as well as mystical teachings. Interestingly, the sages of ancient Israel borrowed this term from their fellow yogis in India. A Darshan in Hebrew means a teacher of Torah who imparts the mystical teachings known as Midrash.

Brahmachari:

One whose consciousness has merged with Brahman, the Absolute, and thus has been liberated from all desire, fear, attachment, and material frames of reference. Thus, a Brahmachari naturally lives a life of celibacy, simplicity, and inner solitude.

Satsang:

Meditative meetings in which the highest teachings are shared. Shunyamurti also offers guidance during questions and answers to resolve the most difficult and delicate matters of the heart.

Teleological:

Information, energy, or nonlinear change that occurs as the effect of events that take place in the future and alter the past, which is perceived in the present as non-ordinary phenomena, synchronicities, unpredictable emergent properties or other notable explicate arisings. The source of such forces may also lie beyond chronological time, in higher dimensions of the Real.

The process of non-process:

Since awakening is instantaneous, along with the recognition that one was never really in the dream, but enjoying the creation of the dream, it must be understood that making awakening into a process can only be part of the dream, and has nothing to do with Awakening itself.

The Real:

When we speak of the Real, unless otherwise qualified, we mean the Supreme Real. The Supreme Real does not appear. Appearance is not Real. All that appears is empty of true existence. There are no real things. All that is phenomenal is temporary, dependent, and reducible to a wave function of consciousness. The world does not exist independent of consciousness. There is no matter or material world. All is made of consciousness. Pure consciousness is Presence. It is no-thing, non-objective, not in space or time. All that appears in Presence, or to Presence, is an emanation of Presence, but is not different from That. This is one meaning of nonduality.

The Real is also a term used in Lacanian psychoanalysis. What Lacan means by the Real is that aspect of phenomenal appearance which is overwhelming, traumatic, or impossible. We would call that Real One. It is a relative Real, not Absolute. We add that there is a Real Two, which consists of divine love. Love is not an appearance, but it changes appearance, through recognition of its Source, into a divine manifestation, a projection of God’s sublimely beautiful Mind as infinite fractal holographic cosmos. Real Three is the unchanging Absolute, beyond all conception or image.

Dharma and dharma:

When we use the term Dharma (capitalized), we refer to our dedication to living in accord with the timeless principles of impeccable integrity that keep us in harmony with Nature and our Supernatural Source.

When we use the term without capitalization, we refer to our acceptance of the community’s processes, protocols, and chain of command with the “Haji! Spirit” of going the “extra mile” and working overtime when necessary to make the impossible inevitable, as our unconditional act of surrender to Love.
