Extended Stays for Deeper Transformation

An alchemical process of ego-death and divine rebirth

The Sat Yoga Ashram 10-day and 4-week Immersion Programs are for spiritual seekers desiring an intensive experience living in a spiritual community and yogic way of life.

A Time of Accelerated Growth

The Sat Yoga Ashram Immersion is a carefully developed program of practical wisdom classes offered in small group settings, plus several daily meditation sittings, special classes in the arts, satsangs in the company of Shunyamurti, and opportunities to share ideas with the ashram resident yogis during meals, karma yoga shifts (communal service), and group discussions. Enjoy the beautiful natural setting of the Sat Yoga Ashram in the mountains of southern Costa Rica.

A Non-Ordinary Wisdom School

The Heart of the Fire is the Sat Yoga Institute—a unique academy for advanced studies in transformation, based on the teachings of Shunyamurti. He has integrated the ancient yogic science of consciousness with modern sciences, psychology, and philosophy—and poured the mix into accessible contemporary terms. These programs offer a portal into the Truth of our intrinsic nature, deeper within than can be reached by thought.

Radha Ma is the Gyana Director and head of the immersion teaching team at the Sat Yoga Ashram. She is the curator of the curriculum and leads many of the classes, while supporting the work of the other members of the teaching staff.

The Offering

The Immersion Program begins with a Meditation Weekend—an ideal introduction to the teachings of Shunyamurti, and the initial taste of the powerful concepts and energy field you will be contained in, as you enter the vortex of the Tao of the Sat Yoga Ashram.

Theoretical Knowledge Made Practical

Daily classes in the understanding of the mind and its dynamic functioning are offered in small group settings. In these classes, you will come to appreciate the structure of the human ego, how it operates and limits your day-to-day life, inhibiting your development to higher states of consciousness. You will discover useful maps of consciousness to enable you to traverse the ego level and function in Soul-consciousness, then on to Pure Spirit and the bliss of Presence. You will come to understand the trajectory of inner growth and how to help others make quantum leaps as well.

Morning Meditation and Evening Classes with the Community

Following the ancient practice of yogis, we begin the day by meditating together at 4am. This early morning meditation gathering helps overcome laziness, creates a unified energy field, clarity of mind, and an open heart for the day ahead. It sometimes ends with a new live teaching by Shunyamurti. As an immersion student, you will also participate in all community meditations and classes, as well as special satsangs with Shunyamurti.

Inner work, Contemplation, and reflection

Each day there are several opportunities for independent reflection, study, journaling and free time to enjoy the beautiful natural setting of the Sat Yoga Ashram. You will have the opportunity to tap into previously unexplored areas of your being through artistic expression and exploration. You can also significantly accelerate your transformation by engaging in one-to-one transformational sessions with a trained guide. In order to request sessions, please speak to our Visit Coordinator before your arrival to ensure that we schedule in advance of your stay. Learn more about one-to-one healing sessions.

Dharma based community life

As an immersion student, you will uphold the Yamas and Niyamas, the ethical yogic guidelines by which our community abides for the duration of your stay here.

As part of your immersion program, you will participate in 7 – 10 weekly hours of karma yoga (communal service) in the gardens, kitchen, housekeeping, and other areas of daily activity.
